Counselling Awareness and Training for Students, Parents and Teachers at KSMS
Kerala Samajam Model School took the imitative to organize counselling and child rights awareness for students, parents and teachers on 11th and 12th January 2019 in its school premises. The resource person Ms. Salony Priya and team from UMEED, Kolkata held a series of sessions with various focus groups. Ms. Salony Priya is a counseling psychologist working in the area of Education Management, Human Development & Training, student empowerment & comprehensive counseling since the past 16 years.
- Session with Board Examines – Std. X gave study tips, ways to reduce exam stress and a long term perspective of career selection.
- A focus session was for students of Std. V to IX covering topics ranging from Adolescence, emotional intelligence, cyber security, internet addiction, ways to focus on studies and right perspective of academic and co-curricular development.
- A session in the evening for 200 parents touched concerns of parents mainly anger issues, academic performance, talent and encouragement. She urged the parent to understand the context, communicate in the right tone and language in order to be able to connect to their children.
- A 4 hour session for 140 faculty and staff of Kerala Samajam Model School and Kerala Samajam Hindi School, ranged on subjects as diverse as class room behavior and how to handle aggression and violence in children child rights and security, RTE, changing structure of the family and its impact on the child and the current education methodology.
The sessions were sprinkled with humor and emotional anecdotes which had the audience alternating between laughter and tears.
