An awareness session on Breast Cancer was organized at KSMS.

With a strong belief that spreading awareness and educating young minds is key to early detection and prevention of breast cancer, the esteemed speaker, Dr. Sneha Jha, Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital, Jamshedpur, interacted with the female teachers and students of Std. XI & XII.

The session was met with a wonderful response, with teachers and students actively participating in discussions, asking insightful questions, and sharing their thoughts on cancer prevention.

Key Takeaways on Breast Cancer Awareness:

Early Detection is Crucial: Regular self-examinations and timely screenings such as mammograms can significantly improve outcomes. I emphasized the importance of checking for any unusual changes like lumps, nipple discharge, or changes in breast texture.

Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle: Staying physically active, eating a nutritious diet, and avoiding excessive alcohol are important lifestyle factors that can reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Understanding Genetic Risks: Those with a family history of breast cancer should be more vigilant, as genetic predisposition increases the risk.

Regular Medical Check-ups: Women over 40 should prioritize annual mammograms, while younger women should be proactive with monthly self-breast exams.
